Toulouse also shines thanks to its textile industry, a historic activity of the Midi-Pyrénées region, and owes its dynamism to a population of which a third is now between 18 and 29 years old, i.e. 100,000 students. A very popular city thanks to the presence of numerous training centres. In all, 3 universities and 14 grandes écoles ensure its reputation. The city is also known for its warm atmosphere and wide range of cultural activities.
The Toulouse urban area is also 342 municipalities and a city ranked as the 4th largest textile centre in France. It is the leading French centre for the production of carded yarns and fabrics, such as wool. The textile sector thus employs around 4,000 people in Toulouse and almost 7,000 if we include the clothing, leather and fashion design professions.
